Hackensack University Medical Center Children’s Cancer Institute

Recently in conjunction with Tom Coughlin’s Jay Fund, Tomorrows Children Fund and Lil Bravest, Purpee the Purple Dragon visited the Hackensack University Medical Center’s Children’s Cancer Institute.

The day consisted of Purpee the Purple Dragon author Anthony Fasano, along with firefighters from Lil Bravest handing out copies of the Purpee the Purple Dragon books along with other goodies for the children. Fasano also handed out coloring sheets so that young patients could recreate their own versions of Purpee the Purple Dragon characters. It was a fun day had by all participating parties.

Since the Purpee the Purple Dragon books have been published, the authors have visited more than a dozen hospitals across the country and have sent books to over 25 hospitals.  Please contact us if you would like us to visit or send books to a specific pediatric care center.

Here is some information about the other organizations we teamed up for this specific event: [Read more…]

Purpee the Purple Dragon Authors recently visited Viola Elementary School in Rockland County, New York where they spoke to over a hundred 1st through 4th graders on the topics of reading, writing and creativity.

The Power in Seeing Someone Your Age Succeed

The students seemed to be very inspired just by seeing 8-year-old Brianna Fasano stand up in front of them and discuss the two Purpee books that she has written. The questions that they asked and statements they made indicated that seeing someone their age or even younger was a big confidence booster when it came to writing.

One student even asked, “Are you ever afraid to write?” Purpee the Purple Dragon author Anthony Fasano, responded, “YES! I am still afraid to write, but I push myself to do it and that’s how great books start. It is totally understandable that you are scared, I think we all are at some point, but you can do if you persevere.” The answer prompted a smile from the student. [Read more…]

Brianna

My 8 year-old daughter Brianna co-authored the first two books in the Purpee the Purple Dragon kid’s book series with me. Brianna and my younger son AJ who was 4 at the time, through a series of bedtime stories, created the Purpee stories. Then Brianna using her Illustory set started writing the text for the book. At the end, I simply came in and smoothed out some of the words and phrases.

Here are 3 reasons kids make excellent authors (yes your kid too). [Read more…]
